A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

And the LORD their God will save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land. For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.

And when they had come out of the boat forthwith they knew him, And ran through that whole region around, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.

These things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye will have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.

Then Paul, after the governor had beckoned to him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been for many years a judge to this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or by constraint: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.

But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yes, let them exceedingly rejoice.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; and a good report maketh the bones fat.

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching: Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing psalms.

Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thy heart, and in the sight of thy eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it will be even as it was told to me.

Then they were all of good cheer, and they also took food.
