For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land where you will eat bread without shortage, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper.

And copper is smelted from the stone ore.

“He cuts out channels and passages among the rocks;
And his eye sees every precious thing.
As they gather silver and bronze and iron and lead and tin into the furnace to blow fire on it in order to melt it, so I will gather you in My anger and in My wrath, and I will put you there and melt you. I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you will be melted in the midst of it.
“Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross (metallic waste) to Me. All of them are (useless) bronze, tin, iron, and lead in the furnace; they are the dross of silver.
“Then set the empty pot (Jerusalem) back on the coals
So that it may be hot
And its bronze may glow
And its filthiness may be melted
And its rust (scum) may be consumed.
And He sat down opposite the [temple] treasury, and began watching how the people were putting money into the treasury. And many rich people were putting in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a mite.
Looking up, He saw the rich people putting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins.
Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; [but that is no concern of mine, for] the Lord will repay him according to his actions.
