After this I will return, and build again the tabernacle of David which has fallen down; and I will build again its ruins, and I will set it up;
Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes from the posterity of David, and from Bethlehem, the town where David was?
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

David, therefore, calls him Lord; and how is he his son?
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed after, cried, saying: Hosanna to the son of David. Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
But we trusted that it was he that was about to redeem Israel. And besides all this, to-day is the third day since these things were done.
Therefore, when they came together, they asked him, saying: Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?
Brethren, I may say to you plainly of the patriarch David, that he died, and was buried, and his sepulcher is with us to this day. Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, that he would cause one from the fruit of his loins to sit on his throne; foreseeing this, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul was not left in hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.
But that he raised him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken thus: I will give you the sure mercies of David.
