And they come into an house: And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. And his relations hearing of it, came out to lay hold on him; for they said, He is beside himself.

And seeing him they were amazed. And his mother said to him, Son, why hast thou done thus to us? Behold thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

Now the Jews feast of tabernacles was nigh. His brethren therefore said to him, Depart hence and go into Judea, that thy disciples there also may see the works which thou dost. For no man doth any thing in secret, but desireth to be publickly known: if thou dost these things, shew thyself to the world.read more.
(For neither did his brethren believe on him.) Jesus saith to them, My time is not yet come: your time is always ready.

But he was asleep on the pillow, in the stern of the boat. And they awake him and say to him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

From that time Jesus began to shew his disciples, That he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter taking hold of him, rebuked him, saying, Favour thyself, Lord: this shall in no wise be unto thee. But he turning said to Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan; thou art an offence to me: for thou savourest not the things of God, but the things of men.

And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he spake that saying openly. And Peter taking hold of him, rebuked him. But he turning about, and looking on his disciples rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan; for thou savourest not the things of God, but the things of men.

who also sitting at the feet of Jesus, heard his discourse. But Martha was incumbered with much serving; and coming to him she said, Lord, dost thou not care, that my sister hath left me to serve alone?

Many of his disciples hearing it, said, This is an hard saying: who can hear it? Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured about this, said to them, Doth this offend you?

Then cometh he to Simon Peter, who saith to him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said to him, What I do, thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.read more.
Simon Peter saith to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

And as Jesus sat at table in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came, and sat down with him and his disciples. And the Pharisees seeing it, said to his disciples, Why eateth your master with publicans and sinners?

And he arose and followed him. And as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many, and they followed him. And the scribes and Pharisees seeing him eat with publicans and sinners, said to his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? And Jesus hearing it saith to them-

And Levi made him a great entertainment, in his own house; and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. But the scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

At that time Jesus went on the sabbath thro' the corn, and his disciples were hungry, and plucked the ears of corn and ate. But the Pharisees seeing it said to him, Behold thy disciples do what it is not lawful to do on the sabbath.

And he went thro' the corn-fields on the sabbath day: and his disciples as they went, plucked the ears of corn. And the Pharisees said to him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath that which is not lawful?

And on the first sabbath after the second day of unleavened bread, he went thro' the corn-fields, and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and ate, rubbing them in their hands. And certain of the Pharisees said to them, Why do ye what it is not lawful to do on the sabbath day?

Then drew near to him all the publicans and sinners, to hear him. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured saying, This man receiveth sinners and eateth with them.

The Jews then murmured about him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then saith he, I came down from heaven?

And behold certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.

But certain of the scribes were sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God only?

And the scribes and the Pharisees reasoned, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies?

Then said the Jews to him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead and the prophets; yet thou sayest, If a man keep my word, he shall never taste of death. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? The prophets also are dead.

And when the seven days were about to be accomplished, the Jews that were from Asia seeing him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him, Crying out, Men of Israel, help! This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: yea, and hath even brought Greeks into the temple, and polluted this holy place.

But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made an assault with one consent upon Paul, and brought him to the judgment-seat, Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

For his letters indeed, say they, are weighty and strong; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.
