And much people being gathered together, coming to him out of every city, he spake by a parable, A sower went forth to sow his seed: and while he sowed, some fell by the way-side; and it was trodden down, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock, and springing up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
And seeing a fig-tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon but leaves only. And he saith to it, Let no fruit grow on thee hence-forward for ever. And presently the fig-tree withered away. And the disciples seeing it marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig-tree withered away?
they saw the fig-tree dried up from the roots. And Peter remembring, saith to him, Master, behold the fig-tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
