So he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, "Master, are you going to wash my feet?" Jesus answered, "You cannot understand now what I am doing, but you will learn by and by." Peter said to him, "I will never let you wash my feet!" Jesus answered, "You will have no share with me unless I wash you."

And when the scribes who were of the Pharisees' party saw that he was eating with irreligious people and tax-collectors, they said to his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax-collectors and irreligious people?" Jesus heard it, and said to them, "It is not well people but the sick who have to have the doctor. I did not come to invite the pious but the irreligious."

His relatives heard of it and came over to stop him, for they said that he was out of his mind.

and he said to them, "You know that it is against the Law for a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit one; but God has taught me not to call anyone vulgar or unclean. That was why, when I was sent for, I came without any hesitation. And now I want to ask why you sent for me."

The king was exceedingly sorry, but on account of his oath and his guests he did not like to break his word to her, and he immediately sent one of his guard with orders to get John's head.
