And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my fathers have bread enough and to spare, and I perish here with hunger! And he arose, and went to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran and fell on his neck, and kissed him. So that whoever eateth the bread or drinketh the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty with respect to the body and the blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and thus let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup; for he that eateth and drinketh eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, if he do not discern the body.read more.
For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and some are falling asleep. But if we judged ourselves, we should not be judged;

since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, who towards you is not weak, but is mighty among you. For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth through the power of God; for we also are weak in him, but we shall live together with him by the power of God toward you. Try yourselves, whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, that Christ Jesus is in you, unless ye are unapproved?

But let each one prove his own work, and then will he have his ground for boasting in himself alone, and not in comparison with another;

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

because if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, we have confidence toward God;

Hypocrite! first cast the beam out of thine own eye; and then wilt thou see clearly to take the mote out of thy brothers eye.

But let a man examine himself, and thus let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup;

Try yourselves, whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, that Christ Jesus is in you, unless ye are unapproved?
