I find then that there is a law to me, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the Law of God, as to the inward man; but I perceive another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
For the flesh hath desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these oppose one another, that ye may not do the things that ye would.
among whom even we all had our way of life in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, even as others;
For speaking great swelling words of vanity, they allure in the lusts of the flesh, by dissolute ways, such as were in some measure escaping from those who live in error;
We then who are strong ought to hear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
We know moreover that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
Him that is weak in his faith receive with kindness, and not to pass judgment on his thoughts. One man hath faith to eat every kind of food; another, who is weak, eateth herbs only.
For in many things we all offend. If any one offend not in speech, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also.
Therefore to him that knoweth how to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Then he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee to be a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou didst not scatter seed; and I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth. See! thou hast thine own.
Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye will be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it will be measured to you. And why dost thou look at the mote that is in thy brothers eye, and not perceive the beam in thine own eye?read more.
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me take the mote out of thine eye; when, lo! the beam is in thine own eye? Hypocrite! first cast the beam out of thine own eye; and then wilt thou see clearly to take the mote out of thy brothers eye.
Speak not against one another, brethren; he that speaketh against his brother, or judgeth his brother, speaketh against the law, and judgeth the law; but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. One is the Lawgiver and Judge, he who is able to save, and to destroy; but who art thou, that judgest thy neighbor?
Murmur not against each other, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the Judge standeth before the door.
And when Peter went up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him, saying, Thou didst go in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I, who present indeed am lowly among you, but am bold toward you when absent;
Blessed are ye, when men revile you, and persecute you, and say every thing that is bad against you, falsely, for my sake.
Blessed are ye when men hate you, and when they exclude you, and revile and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man.
And the scribes and the Pharisees were watching whether he would heal on the sabbath, that they might find an accusation against him.
And, lo! there was a man having a withered hand. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath? that they might accuse him.
And he saith to them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they were silent.
And lo! some of the scribes said within themselves, This man is blaspheming.
Why doth this man speak thus? He blasphemeth; who can forgive sins but God only?
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?
And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why doth your teacher eat with the publicans and sinners?
And when they saw that he was eating with the publicans and sinners, they said to his disciples, Doth he eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?
Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
then the Pharisees and scribes ask him, Why do not thy disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with defiled hands?
And the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; and they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. But at last came two, and said, This man affirmed, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it within three days.
And the chief priests and the whole council sought for testimony against Jesus in order to put him to death; and they found none. For many bore false witness against him, but their testimonies did not agree together. And some stood up and bore false witness against him, saying,read more.
We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another not made with hands. And not even so did their testimony agree.
Therefore some of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God, because he keepeth not the sabbath. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such signs. And there was a division among them.
I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before thee;
For finding fault with them, he saith: "Behold, the days are coming, saith the Lord, when I will make with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah a new covenant; not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers, in the day when I took them by the hand, to bring them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
the secrets of his heart become manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, and report that God is indeed within you.
Moreover, if thy brother sin, go and reprove him between thee and him alone. If he listen to thee, thou hast gained thy brother; but if he do not listen, take with thee one or two more; that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he disregard them, tell the matter to the church; but if he disregard the church also, let him be to thee as a heathen and a publican.
Brethren, even if a man be detected in a fault, do ye who are spiritual restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Take heed to yourselves. If thy brother sin, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
Brethren, if any one among you be led astray from the truth, and one convert him, let him know that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.
For Herod had seized John, and bound him, and put him in prison, on account of Herodias, his brother Philips wife.
For John had said to Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brothers wife.

For what the Law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God hath done, who on account of sin sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and passed sentence of condemnation on sin in the flesh; so that what is required by the Law might be accomplished in us, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
But I say, Walk by the Spirit, and ye will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
and he said to me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my weaknesses, that the strength of Christ may abide upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses in behalf of Christ; for when I am weak, then am I strong.
and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
and to you also who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he given life together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses;
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Which of you convicteth me of sin? If I speak truth, Why do ye not believe me?
For we have not a highpriest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who hath in all points been tempted as we are, without sin.
but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot;
And ye know that he was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin.
having your manner of life among the gentiles honorable; that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Render to no one evil for evil; have regard to what is honorable in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as far as dependeth on you, be at peace with all men.
since we are careful of this, that no one should blame us in our management of this abundant liberality; for we take forethought for what is honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
Do all things without murmurings and doubts; that ye may be blameless and pure, children of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation; among whom ye shine as luminaries in the world,
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober, discreet, orderly, hospitable, apt in teaching;
if any one is without reproach, the husband of one wife, having believing children, that are not accused of dissoluteness, or unruly.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for these things, be diligent that ye may be found without spot and blameless before him in peace,
that he himself might present to himself the church, glorious, having no spot or wrinkle, or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.
in the body of his flesh through his death, to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable in his sight;
in order that he may establish your hearts unblamable in holiness before God, our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones.
And may the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit, and soul, and body, be preserved whole, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
