At Joppa there was a woman, a disciple, whose name was Tabitha, which in Greek means Dorcas, that is, Gazelle. She had filled her life with good deeds and works of charity, which she was always doing. Just at that time it happened that she had been taken ill and had died. They washed her body and laid her out in a room upstairs. So Peter at once got up and went with them. When he reached there, they took him to the room upstairs, and all the widows took their stand around him, crying and showing him the shirts and coats that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.

And Jesus, on coming to the house of the official, and on seeing the flute-players and the wailing crowd,

Then He went up and touched the hearse and the bearers stopped; and He said, "Young man, I tell you, arise."

Then he took it down from the cross and wrapped it in a linen sheet and laid it in a tomb hewn out of rock, where no one had yet been laid.

So Joseph took the body and wrapped it in clean linen,

So he bought a linen sheet, then took Him down from the cross, wrapped Him in the linen sheet, and laid Him in a tomb that had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a boulder up to the doorway of the tomb.

So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in bandages with the spices, in accordance with the Jewish custom of preparing a body for burial. There was a garden at the place where Jesus had been crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. So, because it was the Jewish Preparation day and because the tomb was near by, they laid Him there.
