Then Jesus said, "Let her alone; let her keep it for the day of my funeral,

For in putting this perfume on my body she has done it to prepare me for my burial.

So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in bandages with the spices, in accordance with the Jewish custom of preparing a body for burial.

And he stooped down and peered in and saw the bandages lying on the ground, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came running up behind him, and he went inside, and saw the bandages lying on the ground, but the handkerchief which had been over His face was not lying with the bandages, but was folded up by itself in another place.
