But the centurion answering said, Lord, I am not worthy that Thou shouldst come under my roof, but speak the word, and my servant will be healed: for I also am a man under the authority of others, yet have soldiers under me; and I say to one, go, and he goeth; and to another, come, and he cometh; and to my servant, do this, and he doth it. And when Jesus heard it He marvelled, and said to them that followed Him, Verily, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith even in Israel: but I tell you, that many shall come from the east and from the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven; and the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness; where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said to the centurion, Go, and be it unto thee as thou hast believed. And his servant was healed in that very hour.
Now when He had finished his discourse in the audience of the people, He entered into Capernaum: and a certain centurion's servant, whom he had a great value for, was ill and ready to die; and having heard of Jesus, he sent unto Him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that He would come and heal his servant.read more.
And when they came to Jesus, they intreated Him earnestly, saying, he is worthy of this favor: for he loveth our nation, and hath built us a synagogue. So Jesus went with them. And when He was now not far from the house, the centurion sent some of his friends to Him, saying Lord, trouble not thyself, for I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof: neither did I think myself worthy to come unto thee. But speak the word, and my servant will be recovered. For I also am a man placed under the authority of others, and have soldiers under me; and I say to one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doth it. And when Jesus heard these things, He marvelled, and turning about, said to the multitude that followed Him, I declare unto you, I have not found so great faith, no not in Israel. And when they that were sent, returned to the house, they found the servant well, that had been sick.
And Jesus went from thence, and retired into the parts adjacent to Tyre and Sidon. And there came out of those quarters a Canaanitish woman, and cried to Him saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; for my daughter is grievously tormented by a demon. But he answered her not a word: and his disciples came and intreated Him, saying, Send her away, for she crieth importunately after us.read more.
But he answered and said, I am sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. However, she came and worshipped Him, saying, Lord help me. But he answered, It is not fit to take the children's bread and throw it to dogs: and she said, True, Lord; yet the dogs eat of the crumbs that fall from the table of their masters. Then Jesus answering, said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it therefore unto thee as thou desirest. And her daughter was cured from that very hour.
And He arose and went from thence to the borders of Tyre and Sidon; and going into a house He would have had no body know it, but He could not be concealed: for a woman, whose child was possessed by an evil spirit, having heard of Him, came and fell at his feet, (now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation,) and she besought Him to cast out the demon from her daughter.read more.
But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be satisfied: for it is not fit to take the children's bread, and throw it to the dogs. And she answered and said unto Him, True, Lord, yet the dogs under the table, eat of the children's crumbs. And He said unto her, For this saying, go thy way, the demon is gone out of thy daughter. And she went away to her house, and found the demon gone out, and her daughter laid on the bed.
Hear another parable, There was a certain man, a master of a family, that planted a vineyard, and made a fence about it, and put a wine-press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and travelled abroad. And when the fruit-season drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it: and the husbandmen took his servants and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.read more.
And he sent again other servants more than the first: and they did the like to them. At last he sent unto them his Son, saying, They will reverence my Son. But when the husbandmen saw the Son, they said among themselves, This is the heir, come, let us kill him, and seize on his inheritance: so they took him and cast him out of the vineyard and slew him. When therefore the lord of the vineyard cometh, what will he do to those husbandmen? They answer, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who will render him the fruits in their seasons. Then saith Jesus to them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, "The stone which the builders refused, is made the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?" Therefore I tell you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation, that will bring forth the fruits thereof.

And when ye shall see Jerusalem surrounded with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh: then let them that are in Judea flee to the mountains, and those that are in the midst of it, depart; and let not them that are in the countries enter into it. For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.read more.
But wo to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days; for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people, and they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trampled down by the Gentiles, till the times of the Gentiles too shall be fulfilled.
These twelve did Jesus send forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not among the gentiles, neither enter into any city of the Samaritans: but go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Go ye therefore and instruct all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Ghost, and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.
And He said unto them, Go to all the world and preach the gospel to every one: he that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not, shall be condemned.
and said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it was necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead on the third day; and that in his name should be preached repentance and remission of sins to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
And he said unto them, Ye know how unlawful it is for a man that is a Jew, to associate with or go to the house of one of another nation: but God hath shewn me, that I should not call any man polluted or unclean.
On the morrow, while they were on their journey, and drawing near to the city, Peter went up on the top of the house to pray, about the sixth hour. And he was very hungry, and desired something to eat: but while they were getting it ready, he fell into a trance; and saw heaven opened, and some thing descending to him, like a great sheet tied at the four corners, and let down to the earth:read more.
in which were all kinds of four-footed creatures, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And there was a voice which said to him, Rise, Peter, kill and eat. But Peter said, By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing polluted or unclean. And the voice said to him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, do not thou account polluted. This was done thrice, and the vessel was taken up again into heaven. Now while Peter was doubting in himself what might be the meaning of the vision which he had seen, behold the men that were sent from Cornelius, having enquired for Simon's house, stood at the door; and called, and asked, if Simon sirnamed Peter lodged there. And as Peter was pondering upon the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold there are three men enquiring for thee: arise therefore and go down, and go along with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.
saying, I was praying in the city of Joppa; and in a trance I saw a vision, some thing like a large sheet descending from heaven, let down by the four corners; and it came close to me. And looking stedfastly upon it, I observed four-footed creatures and wild beasts, and reptiles, and fowls of the air. And I heard a voice saying to me, Rise, Peter, kill and eat.read more.
But I said, By no means, Lord: for nothing polluted or unclean hath ever entered into my mouth. And the voice answered me a second time from heaven, What God hath cleansed do not thou call polluted. And this was done thrice: and then they were all drawn up again to heaven. And behold at that very time there came three men to the house where I was, sent from Cesarea to me. And the Spirit ordered me to go with them, doubting nothing. And these six brethren also came with me, and we entred into the man's house; and he told us how he had seen an angel in his house, standing and saying to him, Send men to Joppa, and fetch hither Simon, whose sirname is Peter, who will tell thee things, by which thou shalt be saved and all thy family.
While Peter was yet speaking these words, the holy Spirit fell upon all them that heard the word. And those of the circumcision that were believers, who came with Peter, were astonished, that the gift of the holy Spirit was conferred upon the Gentiles also: for they heard them speaking in divers languages, and glorifying God.read more.
Then said Peter, Can any one forbid water, that these persons should not be baptized, who have received the holy Spirit, as well as we? And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. And they desired him to stay there some days.
And when I began to speak, the holy Spirit fell on them, even as it did upon us at the beginning.
And after much debate, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Brethren, ye know that a good while ago, God, who was among us, chose that the Gentiles should hear by my mouth the word of the gospel, and believe. And God who knoweth the heart, bare witness to them, giving them the holy Spirit, as He had done also to us:
But on the contrary, seeing that I was intrusted with the gospel of uncircumcision, as Peter was with that of the circumcision; (for He who wrought effectually in Peter as to the apostleship of the circumcision, wrought effectually also in me as to the gentiles:) and knowing the grace which was given to me; James, and Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars of the church, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go to the gentiles, and they to the circumcision.
But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way, for he is the instrument I have chosen, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
But he said unto me, Go away; for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.---
And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And He said, I am Jesus, whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand on thy feet: for to this end have I appeared unto thee, to appoint thee a minister and a witness both of the things which thou hast seen, and of those for which I shall hereafter appear unto thee: delivering thee from the people and from the Gentiles, to whom I now send thee,read more.
to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan unto God; that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me. Wherefore, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision: but declared first to those in Damascus and Jerusalem, and through all the country of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, and turn unto God, performing works suitable to repentance. For these things the Jews seized me in the temple, and attempted to kill me. But having obtained help of God, I continue until this day, testifying both to small and great, and saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses declared should come to pass; even that the Messiah should suffer, and being the first of the resurrection from the dead should bring light to the people and to the Gentiles."
And I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that I often purposed to come unto you, (but have been hindered hitherto) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the other Gentiles. For I am a debtor both to Greeks and barbarians, both to the learned and the unlearned: therefore am I ready, as much as in me lies, to preach the gospel to you also that are at Rome.
For I speak to you Gentiles: inasmuch indeed as I am the apostle of the Gentiles,
However, I have written to you, brethren, somewhat the more freely, in reminding you of your duty; because of the favor bestowed upon me by God, that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, administring the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the holy Spirit. I have therefore matter of glorying in Christ Jesus, as to the things of God.read more.

Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but since ye reject it, and judge not yourselves worthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles:
Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it.
And when the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were determined for eternal life believed.
And at Iconium they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great number both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed. But the unbelieving Jews stirred up and inflamed the minds of the Gentiles against the brethren.
And all the multitude kept silence, and gave attention to Barnabas and Paul, relating what signs and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
And when he had saluted them, he gave a particular narrative of the things which God had done among the Gentiles by his ministry.

For before certain men came from James, he did eat with the gentiles; but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews dissembled also with him; so that Barnabas too was carried away with their dissimulation.
But there rose up, said they, some of the sect of the pharisees that believed, saying, that it was necessary to circumcise them, and enjoin them to keep the law of Moses. And to this agree the words of the prophets, as it is written, "After this will I return, and rebuild the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will repair its ruins, and set it up again. That the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the nations, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord who doth all these things." Now all his works are known unto God from the beginning of the world: wherefore my advice is, not to trouble those who from among the Gentiles are converted to God; but to write to them, that they abstain from the pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from what is strangled, and from blood. For Moses hath had from ancient times those that preach him in every city, and is still read in the synagogues every sabbath-day. Then it seemed good to the apostles, and elders, and the whole church, to send men chose from among themselves to Antioch along with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas sirnamed Barsabas, and Silas; leading men among the brethren: and they wrote by their hand, as follows, The apostles and elders and brethren here to the Gentile brethren which are in Antioch, and Syria, and Cilicia, send greeting. Forasmuch as we have heard, that some who went out from us, have troubled you by their discourses, unsettling your minds, saying, ye must be circumcised, and keep the law; to whom we gave no such commission; it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you, with our beloved brethren Barnabas and Paul, who have exposed their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have therefore sent with them Judas and Silas, to tell you the same things also by word of mouth. For it seemed good to the holy Spirit, and so to us, to lay no more burthen upon you than these necessary things. That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from fornication: from which ye will do well to keep yourselves. Farewel. Being thus dispatched they came to Antioch, and when they had assembled the brethren, they delivered the epistle. And when they had read it, they rejoiced at the consolation it brought.
Fourteen years after, I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus also with me. But I went up according to a divine revelation, and laid before them the gospel which I preach among the gentiles: though privately to those of note, least I should run, or had run in vain. and that because of the false brethren clandestinely introduced, who had crept in as spies upon our liberty, which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: to whom we yielded no submission, not even for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again in the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to the whole law.read more.

I extol my office, that if possible I may excite to emulation my brethren according to the flesh, and may save some of them: for if the rejecting of them be the reconciling of the world, what will the receiving them again be but life from the dead? Now if the first-fruits be holy, so is the whole heap: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, and thou a wild-olive wert grafted in among them, and art made a partaker together with them of the root and fatness of the olive; boast not against the branches: and if thou boastest, remember thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Wilt thou say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in? Well; they were broken off for their infidelity, and thou standest by faith: therefore be not high-minded but fear. For if God spared not the natural branches, neither would He spare thee.
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
After this I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no one could number, out of all nations, and tribes, and people, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and with palms in their hands;
And I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel, to preach to those that dwell upon the earth, to every nation, and tribe, and tongue,
and there is neither Jew nor Greek, those is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Tribulation and anguish shall be upon every soul of man that worketh evil, both of the Jew, and of the Gentile: but glory, and honor, and peace to every one that worketh good, both to the Jew, and to the Greek: for there is no respect of persons with God.
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the houshold of God; being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone:
Wherein there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free: but Christ is all and in all.
And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they will hear my voice; so there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
for so the Lord hath commanded us, saying, "I have appointed thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation to the utmost part of the earth." And when the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were determined for eternal life believed.
whom He hath also called, even us, not only of the Jews, but also of the Gentiles. As He saith also in Hosea, I will call them my people, who were not my people, and her beloved, who was not beloved. And in the place where it was said to them, Ye are not my people, there shall they be called the children of the living God.
both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God, as they call it, is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
As Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness: so ye know that they who believe, are the children of Abraham. And the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the gentiles through faith, preached the gospel to Abraham long ago, saying, "In thee shall all nations be blessed."read more.
So then they that believe, are blessed with believing Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law, are under the curse; for it is written, Cursed be every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them. And that by the law no one is justified before God is evident; for it is written "The just shall live by faith:" now the law is not of faith, but saith, "The man that doth them, shall live in them." Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, having been made a curse for us: for it is written, "Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" that the blessing of Abraham might come on the gentiles by Christ Jesus; that we through faith might receive the promise of the Spirit.
Now is this blessedness upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? for we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. How then was it accounted to him? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had in uncircumcision: that he might be the father of all that believe though not circumcised, that righteousness may be imputed to them also:read more.
and the father of circumcision to those, who not only are of the circumcision, but also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love.
