He created them male and female. When they were created, He blessed them and called them man.
Then the Angel of the Lord said to her:You have conceived and will have a son.
You will name him Ishmael,
for the Lord has heard your cry of affliction.
Then the Lord said to him:Name him Jezreel, for in a little while
I will bring the bloodshed of Jezreel
on the house of Jehu
and put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.
Coastlands, listen to me;
distant peoples, pay attention.
The Lord called me before I was born.
He named me while I was in my mother’s womb.
“Your name will no longer be Jacob,” He said. “It will be Israel because you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed.”
But the angel said to him:Do not be afraid, Zechariah,
because your prayer has been heard.
Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son,
and you will name him John.
But his mother responded, “No! He will be called John.”
He asked for a writing tablet and wrote:HIS NAME IS JOHN. And they were all amazed.
But God said, “No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac. I will confirm My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his future offspring.
1 Chronicles 22:9
But a son will be born to you; he will be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his surrounding enemies, for his name will be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel during his reign.
I was then intimate with the prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son. The Lord said to me, “Name him Maher-shalal-hash-baz,
She conceived again and gave birth to a daughter, and the Lord said to him:Name her No Compassion,
for I will no longer have compassion
on the house of Israel.
I will certainly take them away.
Then the Lord said:Name him Not My People,
for you are not My people,
and I will not be your God.
Call your brothers: My People
and your sisters: Compassion.
