Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.
Neither is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives everyone life and breath and all things.
So God created man in His own image;
He created him in the image of God;
He created them male and female.
Then He said, “What have you done? Your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground! So now you are cursed, alienated, from the ground that opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood you have shed.

Then the Lord replied to him, “In that case, whoever kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” And He placed a mark on Cain so that whoever found him would not kill him.
designate cities to serve as cities of refuge for you, so that a person who kills someone unintentionally may flee there. You will have the cities as a refuge from the avenger, so that the one who kills someone will not die until he stands trial before the assembly.
This is what the Lord says: Administer justice and righteousness. Rescue the victim of robbery from the hand of his oppressor. Don’t exploit or brutalize the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow. Don’t shed innocent blood in this place.
And just as it is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment—
Since man’s days are determined
and the number of his months depends on You,
and since You have set limits he cannot pass,

Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord,
children, a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the sons born in one’s youth.

“When you help the Hebrew women give birth, observe them as they deliver. If the child is a son, kill him, but if it’s a daughter, she may live.” The Hebrew midwives, however, feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt had told them; they let the boys live.
For it was You who created my inward parts;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise You
because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful,
and I know this very well. My bones were not hidden from You
when I was made in secret,

Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and with all propriety, the younger women as sisters.
But if any widow has children or grandchildren, they must learn to practice godliness toward their own family first and to repay their parents, for this pleases God.
And Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all his father’s household with food for their dependents. But there was no food in that entire region, for the famine was very severe. The land of Egypt and the land of Canaan were exhausted by the famine.
