In those days Augustus Caesar issued an edict for a census of the whole inhabited world. This was the first census, When Quirinius was governor of Syria.

After they had bound him, they led him away, and handed him over to Pilate, the Roman Governor.

He was hoping that Paul would give him money, and for this reason he used to send for him often to converse with him.
