And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will slay my brother Jacob.

And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him and could not speak peaceably unto him.

And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brethren; and they hated him yet the more.

And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

And why has the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? Would it not be better for us to return into Egypt?read more.

And the women sang as they played and said, Saul has slain his thousands and David his ten thousands. And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him, and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands; and what can he have more but the kingdom? And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.

Then Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab came to meet Elijah. And it came to pass when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubles Israel?

And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found thee because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

And the king of Israel replied unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah, the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife. Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him and would have killed him, but she could not;

Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came unto him having an alabaster box of very precious ointment and poured it on his head as he sat at the table. But when his disciples saw it, they became indignant, saying, To what purpose is this waste?read more.
For this ointment might have been sold for much and given to the poor.

And he being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, sitting at the table, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and breaking the alabaster, she poured it over his head. And there were some that had indignation within themselves and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarius and given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

Then Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who should betray him, Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarius and given to the poor?read more.
This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and had the bag and would take from what was put therein.

Then the prince of the priests rose up, and all those that were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees) were filled with jealousy

When they heard these things, they were divided in their hearts and gnashed on him with their teeth.

And Abel, he also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD looked upon Abel and his present, but he did not look upon Cain and his present. Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the sons of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. I am the LORD.

Thou shalt surely give unto him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him because for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works and in all that thou puttest thine hand to.

And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus that thou didst not call us when thou didst go to fight against Midian? And they chided with him sharply. And he replied unto them, What have I done now in comparison with you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer? God has delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb, and what was I able to do in comparison with you? Then their anger was abated toward him when he spoke that word.

It is certain that wrath kills the foolish man, and envy consumes the covetous one.

But the hypocrites in heart shall irritate him more; they shall not cry out when he binds them.

My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

Say not thou, I will take vengeance, but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

Let not thy heart envy sinners, but persevere in the fear of the LORD all day long.

For from within, out of the heart of men, come forth the evil thoughts, the adulteries, the fornications, the murders, the thefts, the covetousness, the wickedness, the deceit, the lasciviousness, the evil eye, the slander, the pride, the unwiseness: all these evil things come out from within and defile the man.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: these are the things which defile the man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.

Not repaying anyone evil for evil; procuring that which is good not only in the sight of God, but even in the sight of all men. If it can be done, as much as is possible on your part, live in peace with all men. Not defending yourselves, dearly beloved; but rather give place unto the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.read more.
Therefore, if thine enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

See that no one renders evil for evil unto anyone, but always follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all men.

But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye are not consumed one of another.

For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and doubts, that ye may be blameless and innocent, children of God without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world,

But now put ye also off all these things: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

That the slave of the Lord should not be contentious, but be meek unto everyone, apt to teach, patient,

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, boast not and do not be liars against the truth. This wisdom is not that which descends from above, but is earthly, natural, diabolical. For where there is envy and contention, there is confusion and every perverse work.

Having therefore left all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envies and all murmurings,

Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those who speak evil about you, and persecute you; that ye may be sons of your Father who is in the heavens, for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.read more.
For if ye love those who love you, what reward shall ye have? Do not even the publicans the same? And if ye embrace your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so?

Then Peter came to him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? until seven times? So when his fellowslaves saw what was done, they were very grieved and came and declared unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked slave, I forgave thee all that debt because thou didst beseech me; was it not also expedient unto thee to have mercy on thy fellowslave even as I had mercy on thee? And his lord was wroth and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you unless from your hearts ye forgive every one his brother their trespasses.

forbearing one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a quarrel against another: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
