And he took the book of the covenant and read in the audience of the people, and they said, All that the LORD has said we will do, and we will hear.

Then the princes of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the princes of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly and gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents of gold and ten thousand daily wages and ten thousand talents of silver and eighteen thousand talents of brass and one hundred thousand talents of iron. Then the people rejoiced to have offered willingly because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD. Likewise, David the king rejoiced with great joy

Therefore bear one another, as the Christ also bore us, to the glory of God.

But I went up by revelation and communicated unto them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who seemed to be of repute, to not run, or have run, in vain.

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of charity, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same charity, unanimous, minding the one thing. And in this we do know that we have known him if we keep his commandments. He that says, I have known him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whosoever keeps his word, in him verily is the charity of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.read more.
He that says he abides in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

In this we have known the charity of God because he laid down his life for us; we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whosoever has this world's goods and sees his brother have need and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how does the charity of God abide in him?

For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, that having received from us the word to hear from God, ye received it not as the word of men, (but as it is in truth) the word of God, which effectually works in you that believe.

In those days Hezekiah was sick unto the death and prayed to the LORD, who responded to him and gave him a sign. But Hezekiah did not render again according to the benefit done unto him, for his heart lifted itself up; therefore there was wrath against him and against Judah and Jerusalem.

this is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king: that they shall drive thee from among men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall feed thee with grass of the field as the oxen, and with the dew of heaven shalt thou be bathed, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou shalt understand that the most High takes rule over the kingdom of men and that he shall give it to whoever he will. And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots in the earth; thy kingdom shall remain sure unto thee, that thou shalt understand that the rule is in the heavens.read more.

because having known God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man and of birds and of fourfooted beasts and of serpents.

He shall have regarded the prayer of those who are alone and destitute and not despised their prayer.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you; for every one that asks receives, and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom, if his son asks for bread, will he give him a stone?read more.
Or if he asks for fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to those that ask him?

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend and shall go unto him at midnight and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.read more.
I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity, he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Until now ye have asked nothing in my name; ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be fulfilled.

Behold, I shall cry out that I have been wronged, and I shall not be heard; I shall cry aloud, and there shall be no judgment.

Why dost thou stand afar off, O LORD? Why dost thou hide thyself in times of trouble?

How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me and from the words of my cry? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

I will say unto God, My rock, why hast thou forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? It is as death in my bones when my enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?

And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; likewise, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear; your hands are full of blood.

Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it and invoked in the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, answer us. But there was no voice nor anyone that answered. And they jumped up and down near the altar which they had made. And it came to pass at noon that Elijah mocked them and said, Cry aloud, for he is a god; peradventure he is talking or he had to go to the latrine, or he is on a journey, or he sleeps and will awake. And when midday was past, even so they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, and there was neither voice nor anyone that answered nor anyone that heard.

And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth; but I say unto you, That ye resist not with evil, but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone desires to sue thee at the law, and take away thy clothing, let him have thy cloak also.read more.
And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him two. Give to him that asks of thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

And unto the one that smites thee on the one cheek offer also the other, and to the one that takes away thy cloak defend not thy coat also. Give to everyone that asks of thee, and of the one that takes away thy goods ask them not to return them.

Then the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye; why then did ye not take us into account? Did we not speak first about bringing back our king? But in the end words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

Not defending yourselves, dearly beloved; but rather give place unto the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore, if thine enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not, for thou hast given birth to a son. But she did not answer, neither did she regard it.

And Gehazi had gone on before them and had laid the staff upon the face of the child, but there was neither voice, nor attention. Therefore he went again to meet him and told him, saying, The child is not awaked.

who did not hear, nor inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive correction.

And they have turned unto me the back and not the face: when I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they did not hearken to receive chastisement;

But the people remained silent and did not answer him a word, for the king had commanded, saying, Do not answer him.

But they held their peace and did not answer him a word, for the king had commanded thus, saying, Answer him not.

They were amazed, they answered no more; they left off speaking. And I waited, (for they did not speak, but stopped, and answered no more);

Then Job answered the LORD and said, Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay my hand over my mouth. Once I have spoken; but I will not answer; even twice, but I will proceed no further.

And no one was able to answer him a word, neither dared anyone from that day forth ask him any more questions.

And they could not take hold of his words before the people, and they marvelled at his answer and were silent.

And he did not answer him even a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
