And, later on, when he was at table in the house, a number of tax-gatherers and outcasts came in and took their places at table with Jesus and his disciples.
When Jesus was still at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, while he was at table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of choice spikenard perfume of great value. She broke the jar, and poured the perfume on his head.
One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to dine with him, so Jesus went to his house and took his place at table.
As they continued their journey, Jesus came to a village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him to her house.
On one occasion, as Jesus was going, on a Sabbath into the house of one of the leading Pharisees to dine, they were watching him closely.
On seeing this, every one began to complain: "He has gone to stay with a man who is an outcast."
But they pressed him not to do so. "Stay with us," they said, "for it is getting towards evening, and the sun in already low." So Jesus went in to stay with them.
