Abram added, "Since you have not given me a descendant, then look, one born in my house will be my heir!" But look, the word of the Lord came to him: "This man will not be your heir, but instead a son who comes from your own body will be your heir."

Everything he owned Abraham left to his son Isaac.

The Lord spoke about the Ammonites. "Do you think there are not any people of the nation of Israel remaining? Do you think there are not any of them remaining to reinherit their land? Is that why you people who worship the god Milcom have taken possession of the territory of Gad and live in his cities?

But what does the scripture say? "Throw out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not share the inheritance with the son" of the free woman.

If brothers live together and one of them dies without having a son, the dead man's wife must not remarry someone outside the family. Why should the name of our father be lost from among his family because he had no son? Give us a possession among the relatives of our father." So Moses brought their case before the Lord. The Lord said to Moses: "The daughters of Zelophehad have a valid claim. You must indeed give them possession of an inheritance among their father's relatives, and you must transfer the inheritance of their father to them.
