7 Bible Verses about Lamenting

When Herod found that he had been trifled with by the Astrologers, he was very angry. He sent and put to death all the boys in Bethlehem and the whole of that neighborhood, who were two years old or under, guided by the date which he had ascertained from the Astrologers. Then were fulfilled these words spoken in the Prophet Jeremiah, where he says-- 'A voice was heard in Ramah, Weeping and much lamentation; Rachel, weeping for her children, Refused all comfort because they were not.'

Presently they reached the President's house, where Jesus saw a scene of confusion--people weeping and wailing incessantly.

And every one was weeping and mourning for her. "Do not weep," Jesus said, "she is not dead; she is asleep."

There was a great crowd of people following him, many being women who were beating their breasts and wailing for him.

So the Jews, who were in the house with Mary, condoling with her, when they saw her get up quickly and go out, followed her, thinking that she was going to the tomb to weep there. When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she threw herself at his feet. "Master," she exclaimed, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died!" When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her weeping also, he groaned deeply, and was greatly distressed.

Some religious men buried Stephen, with loud lamentations for him.
