But he had a rebuke for his iniquity: the dumb ass, speaking with man's voice, forbad the madness of the prophet.
This commission have I received of my Father. There was again a division among the Jews, because of these sayings. Many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad: why hear ye him? Others said, These are not the words of one that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
But the Pharisees hearing it said, This fellow casteth not out devils but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
And they come into an house: And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. And his relations hearing of it, came out to lay hold on him; for they said, He is beside himself. But the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
And as he was thus making his defence, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself, much learning doth make thee mad. But he said, I am not mad, most excellent Festus, but utter the words of truth and sobriety.
For if we are transported beyond ourselves, it is to God; if we are sober, it is for your sakes.
