For the time will come, when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own desires will they heap to themselves teachers; because they have itching ears; and they will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables.

As I besought thee, when I set out for Macedonia, to remain still in Ephesus, that thou mightst charge certain persons not to teach other doctrine, nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which occasion disputes rather than promote Gods dispensation which is in faith, [so I do now.]

This testimony is true; for which cause rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.
