20 Bible Verses about Not Honouring Parents

He must not go near any dead bodies or become unclean, even for his father or mother.

Even if their own father, mother, brother, or sister dies, they must not make themselves unclean by going near them. Nazarites show their vow to God with their long hair.

There is a generation that curses their father, and doe not bless their mother.

He who curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in obscure darkness.

Jehovah gave the following regulations. Any of you that curse your father or mother shall be put to death. You are responsible for your own death.

Moses said: 'Honor your father and your mother. He also said: 'He that speaks evil of father or mother must die.'

He who strikes (beats) his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

He who assaults his father and chases away his mother is a shameful and disgraceful son.

Cursed is the man who dishonors his father or mother. All the people will say: Amen.

People in you hate their fathers and mothers. They oppress foreigners in you. They oppress orphans and widows in you.'

The son dishonors the father. The daughter rises up against her mother and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man's enemies are the men of his own house.

You say there is no need for him to give honor to his father. You have invalidated the word of God because of your tradition!

But you say: 'If a man says to his father or his mother that which would benefit you is a gift to God,

he no longer has to do anything for his father or mother.'

He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. He who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

You who come to me may not be my disciple unless you love me more than you love your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters and yourself.

Who said of his father and mother: 'I have not seen them; and he did not acknowledge his brothers, nor did he regard his own sons. They observed your word and kept your covenant.'
