And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mount, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, Up, make gods for us, which shall go before us. I neither ate bread nor drank water. And LORD delivered to me the two tablets of stone written with the finger of God. And on them [was] according to all the words, which LORD spoke with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
And it came to pass, as soon as he came near to the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing. And Moses' anger grew hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mount.
And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against LORD your God. Ye had made you a molten calf. Ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which LORD had commanded you. And I took hold of the two tablets, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.
And LORD said to Moses, Hew thee two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write upon the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which thou broke.
At that time LORD said to me, Hew thee two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me onto the mount, and make thee an ark of wood. And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets which thou broke, and thou shall put them in the ark.
And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy-seat above upon the ark.
LORD spoke with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire
And the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved upon the tablets.
And he wrote on the tablets according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which LORD spoke to you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly, and LORD gave them to me.
