But Jesus, aware of this, said, "O men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive? Do you not remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? Or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you gathered?read more.
How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you about bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees."

But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to ask him.

But they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.

His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.

when anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

They did not understand that he spoke to them of the Father.

Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep.

Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how can any one in the position of an outsider say the "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?

This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.

But they did not understand the saying which he spoke to them.

Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you are not able to hear my word.
