They made ready the present for Joseph's coming at noon, for they heard that they should eat bread there.

Now on the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?" He said, "Go into the city to a certain person, and tell him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is near. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples."'" When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

It was the day of the Preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near.

Therefore the Jewish leaders, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

"Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, 'Prepare food; for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God gives you to possess it.'"

Again he sent out other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "Look, I have made ready my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast."'

He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.

"Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren't worthy.

He sent out his servant at supper time to tell those who were invited, 'Come, for everything is ready now.'
