It was bit by bit and in many different ways that God in olden times spoke to our forefathers through the prophets,

At that time some prophets from Jerusalem came down to Antioch, and one of them named Agabus got up and, through the Holy Spirit, foretold that there was going to be a great famine all over the world, which occurred in the reign of Claudius.

Let two or three prophets speak, and the rest consider carefully what is said;

While we were spending some days here, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. He came to see us and took Paul's belt and with it bound his own hands and feet, and said, "This is what the Holy Spirit says, 'The Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt like this, and then will turn him over to the heathen.'"

Then He told them a story: "Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When you see them shooting forth their buds, you know of yourselves that summer now is near. So when you see these things taking place, you must understand that the kingdom of God is near.read more.

Blessed be the man who reads them and the people who hear the messages of this prophecy read, and heed what is written in it, for the time is near.
