This man, therefore, acquired a field with the reward of unrighteousness; and, falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out;

And, taking counsel, they bought with them the field of the potter, for a burial-place for the strangers.

"And they all, with one consent, began to make excuse. The first said to him, 'I bought a field, and I must go out to see it; I pray you, have me excused.'

"Hear another parable. There was a man?? householder??ho planted a vineyard, and placed a fence around it, and dug a wine-press, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went abroad. And, when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen to receive his fruits. Again he sent other servants more than the first; and they treated them likewise. But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, 'They will reverence my son.' But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and have his inheritance!' And, taking him, they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. When, therefore, the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those husband-men?" They say to Him, "He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who will render to him the fruits in their seasons."

And He began to speak to them in parables, "A man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and dug a wine-vat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country. And, at the season, he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruits of the vineyard. And, taking him, they beat him, and sent him away empty. read more.
And again he sent to them another servant; and him they wounded in the head, and dishonored. And he sent another; and him they killed; and many others, beating some, and killing some. He had yet one, a beloved son; he sent him to them last, saying, 'They will pay deference to my son.' But those husbandmen said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' And, taking him, they killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. What, therefore, will the lord of the vineyard do! He will come, and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.
