and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who slept arose

And many of those that sleep in the dust of the earth shall be awakened, some for eternal life, and some for shame and everlasting confusion.

Marvel not at this, for an hour shall come when all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and those that have done good shall come forth unto the resurrection of life; but those that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.

And I saw the dead, great and small, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened; which is the book of life; and the dead were judged by those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans and of the Stoics encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? others, He seems to be a setter forth of new gods, because he preached unto them Jesus and the resurrection.

Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you that God should raise the dead?

Then Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which is spoken unto you by God, who saith,read more.
I AM the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Then Jesus, answering, said unto them, Do ye not therefore err because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? For when they shall rise from the dead, neither shall they marry nor husbands take women nor women, husbands; but are as the angels who are in the heavens. And regarding the dead who are to rise, have ye not read in the book of Moses how in the bush God spoke unto him, saying, I Am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?read more.

And Jesus answering said unto them, The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, but those who are accounted worthy to obtain that age and the resurrection from the dead neither marry, nor are given in marriage; for neither can they die any more, for they are equal unto the angels and are the sons of God, being the sons of the resurrection.read more.
Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed this at the bush when he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living; for all live unto him.

But someone will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not brought to life, unless it dies first; and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be, but bare grain: it may be of wheat or of some other grain;read more.
but God gives it a body as it has pleased him, and to each seed its own body. All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
