6 Bible Verses about Seeking But Not Finding People

On my bed in the night, I sought him whom my {heart} loves. I sought him, but I did not find him.

I opened myself to my beloved, but my beloved had turned and gone; my heart sank when he turned away. I sought him, but I did not find him; I called him, but he did not answer me.

And [when] Herod had searched for him and did not find [him], he questioned the guards [and] ordered [that they] be led away to execution. And he came down from Judea to Caesarea [and] stayed [there].

Then he passed on and behold, he was not. And I sought him, but he could not be found.

You shall seek them, but you shall not find them; {your opponents} shall be like nothing, and the men of your war like nothing.

Then she will pursue {her lovers}, but she will not overtake them; she will seek them and not find [them]; and she will say, "I will go and return to my first husband because [it was] better for me then than now."
