Then spake David unto the LORD when he saw the Angel that smote the people, and said, "Lo, it is I that have sinned, and I that have done wickedly. But these sheep what have they done? Let I pray thee thine hand be on me and on my father's house."

If I will justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me; if I will put forth my self for a perfect man, he shall prove me a wicked doer.

Wherefore was not I obedient unto the voice of my teachers, and hearken not unto them that informed me?

Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy holy spirit from me.

For the wrath of man worketh not that which is righteous before God.
