What man liveth, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah.
And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted, and said, For I will go down to my son into Sheol mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
And if ye take this one also from me, and mischief should befall him, ye will bring down my grey hairs with misery to Sheol.

and he said: I cried by reason of my distress unto Jehovah, and he answered me; Out of the belly of Sheol cried I: thou heardest my voice.
Shall thy loving-kindness be declared in the grave? thy faithfulness in Destruction? Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
For now should I have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept: then had I been at rest, With kings and counsellors of the earth, who build desolate places for themselves, Or with princes who had gold, who filled their houses with silver;read more.
Or as a hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants that have not seen the light. There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the wearied are at rest. The prisoners together are at ease; they hear not the voice of the taskmaster. The small and great are there, and the bondman freed from his master.
The cloud consumeth and vanisheth away; so he that goeth down to Sheol shall not come up.
If I wait, Sheol is my house; I spread my bed in the darkness: I cry to the grave, Thou art my father! to the worm, My mother, and my sister! And where is then my hope? yea, my hope, who shall see it?read more.
It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, when our rest shall be together in the dust.
For in death there is no remembrance of thee; in Sheol who shall give thanks unto thee?
Sheol from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming, stirring up the dead for thee, all the he-goats of the earth; making to rise from their thrones all the kings of the nations. All of them shall answer and say unto thee, Art thou also become powerless as we; art thou become like unto us! thy pomp is brought down to Sheol, the noise of thy lyres: the maggot is spread under thee, And worms cover thee.
For not Sheol shall praise thee, nor death celebrate thee; they that go down into the pit do not hope for thy truth.
And they went down, they and all that they had, alive into Sheol, and the earth covered them; and they perished from among the congregation.
Jehovah killeth, and maketh alive; he bringeth down to Sheol, and bringeth up.
Drought and heat consume snow waters; so doth Sheol those that have sinned.
Jehovah, let me not be ashamed; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, let them be silent in Sheol.
Like sheep are they laid in Sheol: Death feedeth on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their comeliness shall be for Sheol to consume, that there be no habitation for them.
Let death seize upon them, let them go down alive into Sheol. For wickedness is in their dwellings, in their midst.

Jehovah, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol, thou hast quickened me from among those that go down to the pit.
But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol: for he will receive me. Selah.
For great is thy loving-kindness toward me, and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol.
