But the unspiritual man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot know them; because they are spiritually discerned.

And the light hath been shining in the darkness; and the darkness received it not.

Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this, and said to him, Are we also blind? Jesus said to them, If ye were blind, ye would not have sin; but now ye say, We see. Your sin remaineth.

Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, nor understand.

And he said, To you it hath been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; but to others [these things are spoken] in parables; that while seeing they may not see, and while hearing they may not understand.
