Look up at the sky! Who created all these heavenly lights? He is the one who leads out their ranks; he calls them all by name. Because of his absolute power and awesome strength, not one of them is missing.

The Lord God formed out of the ground every living animal of the field and every bird of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them, and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

God made two great lights -- the greater light to rule over the day and the lesser light to rule over the night. He made the stars also.

He counts the number of the stars; he names all of them.

By the Lord's decree the heavens were made; by a mere word from his mouth all the stars in the sky were created.
