And the man of God said to the king, If thou will give me half thy house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place;

For he clung to LORD. He did not depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which LORD commanded Moses.

And he did that which was right in the eyes of LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned aside.

I hold fast my righteousness, and will not let it go. My heart shall not reproach [me] so long as I live.

For lord LORD will help me. Therefore I have not been confounded. Therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.

But if not, be it known to thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou have set up.

And it came to pass, while fulfilling the days for his ascension, that he also set his face to go to Jerusalem.

But we are not of retreat for destruction, but of faith for the preservation of the soul.
