For the saving grace of God has appeared to all men, disciplining us, so that, having denied irreverence and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and piously in the present age. Awaiting the blessed hope and appearance of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us, so that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a special people, a zealot of good works.
The overseer therefore must be blameless, the husband of one wife, without wine, serious minded, disciplined, loving strangers, able to teach, no drunkard, not a fighter, not greedy of base gain, but meek, noncontentious, no lover of money,

And when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
Then Jonathan said to David, Whatever thy soul desires, I will even do it for thee. And David said to Jonathan, Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king to eat. But let me go that I may hide myself in the field to the third day at evening. And when David's young men came, they spoke to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased. And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants now-a-days who break away every man from his master. Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it to men of whom I know not from where they are?
