He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a grievous word stirs up anger.

But I say to you, not to resist what is troublesome, but whoever will strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

with all humility and mildness, with longsuffering, forbearing each other in love.

But the wisdom from above is indeed first pure, then peaceful, meek, easily entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and non-hypocritical.

And when Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully requite us all the evil which we did to him. He who is soon angry will deal foolishly. And a man of wicked devices is hated.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Fret not thyself, [it tends] only to evil-doing.

The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
