And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." But he answered, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory. And he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Away, Satan! for it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'"
And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, "O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."
Again, a second time, he went away and prayed, "O my Father, if this cup cannot pass away unless I drink it, your will be done."
And he said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me; yet not what I will, but what you will."
For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.
When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to the one who put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.read more.
