Jacob said: Please tell me your name. The man answered: Why do you ask for my name? Then he blessed Jacob there.

Manoah replied: Tell us your name. We want to honor you when your words come true.

Then Moses said to God: Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel. I will say to them: 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you.' Now they may ask me: 'What is His name?' What shall I say to them?'

Who ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who gathered the wind in his hands? Who bound the waters in a garment? Who established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if you can tell me?

The angel asked: Why do you want to know my name? It is 'Wonderful.' (Isaiah 9:6)

Then the woman told her husband: A man of God came to me. He looked as frightening as the angel of God. I did not ask him where he came from, and he did not tell me his name.
