'Begin' in the Bible
and begin to beat his fellow-bondmen, and eat and drink with the drunken;
Produce therefore fruits worthy of repentance; and begin not to say in yourselves, We have Abraham for our father, for I say unto you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.
But if that bondman should say in his heart, My lord delays to come, and begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and to drink and to be drunken,
From the time that the master of the house shall have risen up and shall have shut the door, and ye shall begin to stand without and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us; and he answering shall say to you, I know you not whence ye are:
then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten in thy presence and drunk, and thou hast taught in our streets;
and he who invited thee and him come and say to thee, Give place to this man, and then thou begin with shame to take the last place.
in order that, having laid the foundation of it, and not being able to finish it, all who see it do not begin to mock at him,
But when these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws nigh.
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall upon us; and to the hills, Cover us:
Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or do we need, as some, commendatory letters to you, or commendatory from you?
For the time of having the judgment begin from the house of God is come; but if first from us, what shall be the end of those who obey not the glad tidings of God?
