'Bitterly' in the Bible

Wherever they went, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil (misfortune), as the Lord had spoken, and as the Lord had sworn to them, so that they were severely distressed.

‘Curse Meroz,’ said the messenger of the Lord,‘Utterly curse its inhabitants;Because they did not come to the help of the Lord,To the help of the Lord against the mighty.’

So the people came to Bethel and sat there before God until evening, and lifted up their voices and wept bitterly.
