'Brethren' in the Bible

And his mother and his brethren came to him, and could not get to him because of the crowd.

And it was told him saying, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, wishing to see thee.

But he answering said to them, My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do it.

And he said also to him that had invited him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsfolk, nor rich neighbours, lest it may be they also should invite thee in return, and a recompense be made thee.

And he said to them, Verily I say to you, There is no one who has left home, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

There were then seven brethren: and the first, having taken a wife, died childless;

But ye will be delivered up even by parents and brethren and relations and friends, and they shall put to death some from among you,

but I have besought for thee that thy faith fail not; and thou, when once thou hast been restored, confirm thy brethren.
