'Chastened' in the Bible

“Man is also disciplined with pain on his bed,And with unceasing complaint in his bones,

For all the day long have I been stricken,And punished every morning.

The Lord has disciplined me severely,But He has not given me over to death.

Although I trained and strengthened their arms [for victory over their enemies],Yet they devise evil against Me.
