'Clefts' in the Bible
“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock,In the secret place of the steep pathway,Let me see your form,Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet,And your form is lovely.”
In order to go into the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffsBefore the terror of the Lord and the splendor of His majesty,When He arises to make the earth tremble.
Who inflame yourselves among the oaks,Under every luxuriant tree,Who slaughter the children in the ravines,Under the clefts of the crags?
“Behold, I am going to send for many fishermen,” declares the Lord, “and they will fish for them; and afterwards I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them from every mountain and every hill and from the clefts of the rocks.
“As for the terror of you,The arrogance of your heart has deceived you,O you who live in the clefts of the rock,Who occupy the height of the hill.Though you make your nest as high as an eagle’s,I will bring you down from there,” declares the Lord.
“The arrogance of your heart has deceived you,You who live in the clefts of the rock,In the loftiness of your dwelling place,Who say in your heart,‘Who will bring me down to earth?’
