'Drink' in the Bible
For they eat the bread of wickednessAnd drink the wine of violence.
Drink water from your own cistern [of a pure marriage relationship]And fresh running water from your own well.
“Come, eat my foodAnd drink the wine I have mixed [and accept my gifts].
Wine is a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler;And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior—one who manipulates].He says to you, “Eat and drink,”Yet his heart is not with you [but it is begrudging the cost].
If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat;And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
It is not for kings, O Lemuel,It is not for kings to drink wine,Or for rulers to desire strong drink,
Otherwise they drink and forget the law and its decrees,And pervert the rights and justice of all the afflicted.
Give strong drink [as medicine] to him who is ready to pass away,And wine to him whose life is bitter.
Let him drink and forget his povertyAnd no longer remember his trouble.
