'Endeavouring' in the Bible

Meanwhile the High Priests and the entire Sanhedrin were endeavouring to get evidence against Jesus in order to put Him to death, but could find none;

because of these things the Jews -- having caught me in the temple -- were endeavouring to kill me.

So they arranged a day with him and came to him in considerable numbers at the house of the friends who were entertaining him.
