'Groaning' in the Bible
The roads of Zion are in mourningBecause no one comes to the appointed feasts. All her gates are desolate; Her priests are groaning,Her virgins are afflicted,And she herself is bitter.
שׁ ShinPeople have heard me groaning, but there is no one to comfort me.All my enemies have heard of my misfortune;they are glad that You have caused it.Bring on the day You have announced,so that they may become like me.
May all of their wickedness come to your attention, and deal with them as you have done with me because of all my transgressions. For I am constantly groaning, and my heart is faint.
The Lord has become like an enemy; He has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all its palaces; He has destroyed its strongholdsAnd multiplied in the Daughter of JudahMourning and lamentation (expressions of grief).
