then he fell to solemn imprecations, and swore, "I don't know the man." and immediately the cock crew:

Then began he to make the most dreadful imprecations, and to swear, I know not the man of whom ye speak.

For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, “As My anger and wrath have been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so My wrath will be poured out on you when you enter Egypt. So they came to the high-priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves by the direst imprecation, to taste nothing till we have killed Paul.
