'Jaws' in the Bible
“I broke the jaws of the wickedAnd snatched the prey from his teeth.
My strength is dried up like a potsherd,And my tongue cleaves to my jaws;And You lay me in the dust of death.
Keep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me,And from the snares of those who do iniquity.
The Arameans on the east and the Philistines on the west;And they devour Israel with gaping jaws.In spite of all this, His anger does not turn awayAnd His hand is still stretched out.
His breath is like an overflowing torrent,Which reaches to the neck,To shake the nations back and forth in a sieve,And to put in the jaws of the peoples the bridle which leads to ruin.
“I will put hooks in your jawsAnd make the fish of your rivers cling to your scales.And I will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers,And all the fish of your rivers will cling to your scales.
I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords;
I led them with cords of a man, with bonds of love,And I became to them as one who lifts the yoke from their jaws;And I bent down and fed them.
