'Kept' in the Bible

For I have kept the ways of the Lord,And have not wickedly departed from my God.

O Lord, You have brought my life up from Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead);You have kept me alive, so that I would not go down to the pit (grave).

When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted awayThrough my groaning all the day long.

“These things you have done and I kept silent;You thought that I was just like you.Now I will reprimand and denounce you and state the case in order before your eyes.

I will thank You forever, because You have done it, [You have rescued me and kept me safe].I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.

Who keeps us among the living,And does not allow our feet to slip or stumble.

They did not keep the covenant of GodAnd refused to walk according to His law;

Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High GodAnd did not keep His testimonies (laws).

He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;They kept His testimoniesAnd the statutes that He gave them.

This has become mine [as the gift of Your grace],That I observe Your precepts [accepting them with loving obedience].

My soul keeps Your testimonies [hearing and accepting and obeying them];I love them greatly.
