'Land' in the Bible

There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.

Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

Before I go—and I shall not return—To the land of darkness and deep shadow,

The land of utter gloom as darkness itself,Of deep shadow without order,And which shines as the darkness.”

To whom alone the land was given,And no alien passed among them.

“They push the needy aside from the road;The poor of the land are made to hide themselves altogether.

“Man does not know its value,Nor is it found in the land of the living.

“Fools, even those without a name,They were scourged from the land.

“If my land cries out against me,And its furrows weep together;

You whose garments are hot,When the land is still because of the south wind?

To bring rain on a land without people,On a desert without a man in it,

To satisfy the waste and desolate landAnd to make the seeds of grass to sprout?

To whom I gave the wilderness for a homeAnd the salt land for his dwelling place?

In all the land no women were found so fair as Job’s daughters; and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers.
